Ariel Elofer

I am a chronically ill, disabled, Moroccan, Arab, Jewish Sephardic, queer, gender non-conforming artist. A key theme I explore is the intersections of identities in one person and how it creates splintered versions of them. I explore my own different identities, how they intertwine, and how to put back together the fractured pieces to feel grounded in a single self.

My art is a visual representation of how my identities impact me, present obstacles, a unique perspective, and hard-earned skills.

COVID19: The Golden Mask is a piece about ICU eugenics during the COVID pandemic. It's about who has/would get a ventilator in the places/times they run out, and why.

The Golden Mask: Do You Care Now? is a reversal of the vulnerable, both in who society values the most and who is most likely to need a ventilator; a visibly white, able-bodied, baby.
