Claiming Space: Navigating Gender and Power
We all know the power of organizing. It cannot only help to challenge the law and existing policies, it is part of belonging and building our own confidence and skills. In a world still steeped in patriarchal power structures, where are the potential spaces for movement and hope? How does our independent agency inform the way we occupy the spaces around us? How do intersections, such as power and gender, constrain what we think is possible? How do we work on and around those constraints and build others’ capacity to as well?
Using experiential activities and a discussion-based approach, this workshop will delve into how we do or can claim space(s), and how to penetrate closed and uninviting spaces.
