Jessica Beaumont is an emerging artist working and living in Toronto. She is currently a Community Artist at Sketch, Youngplace Artscape. Her artist endeavors include visual arts,creative writing and occasional performing and acting. She is also part of Acting Out! Connect to Youth, a social justice improv initiative; she works alongside other trans* and queer youth to train social workers through improv and lived experience. This results in workers becoming better equipped to work with diverse youth in who are in various systems (mental health, Children’s Aid, etc..) Jessica’s art is inspired by her own experiences as a trans woman, and explores gender performativity, sexual identity and feminism. She is currently in the process of creating a webcomic, which will be a platform to bring about trans visibility and activism through a fun, accessible and artistic form. Jessica’s work will soon be found online. She has also previously read her creative writing at Buddies in Bad Times theatre.
