Meera Margaret Singh is a visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. She holds a BA in Anthropology (1997), a BFA in Photography (2004) from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada and an MFA (2008) from Concordia University, Montréal, Canada. Singh has been the recipient of several residencies and awards, including Canada Council for the Arts production/creation grants (2009, 2011,2013), an Ontario Arts Council Mid-Career grant (2013), a Toronto Arts Council Visual Arts Grant (2010). She has been a selected artist at the Banff Centre (2008); a McCain Artist-in-Residence at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto (2009); JACA Residency in Brazil (2012); a scholarship winner and participant in the Magnum Workshop with photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti (2008); a selected artist in an international residency with German photographer Thomas Struth at the Atlantic Centre for the Arts in Florida (2007); a visiting artist/instructor at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India; an artist-in-residence at The Art Gallery of Ontario (2015); artist-in-residence at 1Shanti Rd in Bangalore, India (2015). Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and festivals internationally. She is currently an instructor in the Photography department at OCAD University in Toronto.
