Rema identifies as a Black-mixed Womanist artist/educator and her work has shown in several exhibitions both nationally and internationally. She is the Founder of Mixed in Canada, a national critical resource centre for mixed-race identified Canadians. She is also a co-founder of the MIXED Art Conference, an un-conference focused around racialized mixed-race identity and intersectionality. Rema has been invited to speak at the University of Toronto annually since 2012, to Ontario Public Services, on CBC Radio, etc as well as to deliver workshops to children and youth for various schools and organizations. Rema is particularly interested in Afro-Canadian histories, intersectionality, and critical mixed-race theory.
